Check out this link and go to the history tab to learn more about these great guitars: www.guitargai. It stacks up better than any Gibson I've played (I've never had my hands on a real '59 LP otherwise I am sure that I wouldn't be saying that). Long neck tenon joint 1959 correct construction In many ways the guitar was built better than the Gibsons that were factory produced. I really missed the Les Paul for quite some time and in early 2006 I bought an Orville on Ebay that absolutely kills tone and build quality wise. I soon migrated back to classic rock/ blues and bought 3 American Standard Stratocasters. Foolishly I traded them away to a music store circa 1987 for some American Charvels with locking tremolo's (also great guitars) to play the 80's hair band stuff. Some low-end models are hollow, kinda like an ES Les Paul (May be good or bad, depending on what you are looking for). I was in Japan in '83 and came back with two Burnys a Les Paul Standard Tobacco Sunburst and a Black Beauty Custom (with the correct diamond inlay in the headstock). Burny, Greco, and Tokai from the late ‘70s to early ‘80s (and late ‘80s in some cases) have a variety of models with a bunch of different neck shapes. Any of the Les Paul replicas that came out of the Fuji-Gen-Gakki company in Japan were great instruments.
